The perfect lunch...

....with the perfect guests!

Back when Madi was still in a baby carrier, my Mom and I have been lunching with Sheryl and her Mom Gammy (aka Donna, aka DP).  We have the best time together.  A little background, we've known the Pidgeons for a long time, I played softball with DP's daughter Nicole, and Stacy, my sister, was friends with Sheryl.  We have history people.

Sheryl's little boy Leo is about a month younger than Madison.  Now, when you see pictures of Leo and you see how cute he is, don't try to claim him for your baby's boyfriend.  He is already taken.  Madi and Leo make quite a cute couple, all though, I think Madi might have some competition.  Riley had a lovely time with Leo today too.  He might be a two timer.  We will see about that...

Anyway, back to the lunch.  When we first started our lunches, we'd meet out at BJ's and we'd have ourselves a little midday cocktail.  Usually, a Hefewiezen, because BJ's makes the best Hef's.  It was fun, and different, and just nice to have good conversation with good people.  These woman rock the house.  They are pretty awesome.  Not as awesome as me, but....  Just kidding.  It's my birthday I had to say something about myself.  Once again, back to the lunch... my cocktail must be kicking in, I think I'm rambling...

The last time we had lunch at BJ's we decided that those days were over.  My two beasts just didn't do too well.  So we've decided to just have lunch at our homes.  This has worked out perfectly.  The kids can run around and play, and we don't have to worry about screaming, fighting, biting, or any of that nonsense.  It's much more relaxing.

Today, I had lunch at my house.  We had a ball.  Here, I'll tell you about it, with photos of course...

My Mom, has a beautiful tablescape planned to post tonight on her blog, and if some of the elements look similar, well they should.  My Mother in law Joy bought us both a set of the cutest little dishes and my Mom did a table with them.  I asked her to bring over some of the stuff from her table, and I'd use my dishes and some of my stuff.  So she did, and she set my table for me, isn't it pretty??  That woman is gifted I tell ya.

Another shout out to my Mom too because she took all of the pictures, I was prepping food.  Thanks Mom!!  I don't know what Sean was talking about, your pictures are awesome...

These dishes are totally cute people.  They are each different with a different lady on them, shop girl, wine girl, etc.  Love them!  Thanks Joy!!

Having lunch is hard when all of the woman eating the lunch are on weight watchers, which brings me to the star of the show...

How did Donna get in there?  Ooops, I was talking about the star of the show.  I meant to show you this...

Yes, DP, you were the star of the show, not the gin, don't panic.  The gin made it better, but without you, there would be no gin.  Let me explain to all of you that were not there and are completely lost.  Like I said before, our drink of choice is a Hef, the problem??  3 points a pop.  What do four woman do that are on a diet but still would like a midday cocktail?  Why, find one that's 2 points a pop of course!  DP brought over her own bar, complete with ice.  She's so great.  Makes a great gin and tonic too, my new favorite drink of choice.

The bartenders...

The kids did great today.  My kids do so good at our house.  And Leo, he is a little saint.  And like I said, so cute.  Hands off baby ladies, like I said.  He is taken.

A quick cheers...

I told them not to bring gifts, but they did, kind of, here is one...

Oh, and what did I serve for lunch you ask?  A blue cheese and walnut salad, my take on the BJ's angel hair toscana, and some tomato and basil bruschetta.

And every good lunch is followed by dessert, cake for me, and 0 points strawberries and fat free cool whip.

After lunch and dessert, we sat around and had intellectual conversations sang songs from some of the great old movies.  Chang, chang, chang goes the trolley....

We sure do know how to have a good time!
Thank you guys for joining me for such a fun afternoon.  I love hosting, it was a pleasure to have you at my house and the perfect way to spend my birthday lunch!  Can't wait for next time.  I'll bring the...

Photos With Anna Little

On Sunday, we had our very first photo session with Anna Little.  She is amazing.  I've seen so much of her work that I just had to use her, and I'm so happy that I did.  She really captured the personality of my girls.  I think that's what I like so much about her style of photography.  She really captures a family vibe too, and her editing is fantastic.  She gave us a million pictures and honestly, I'd post all of them on here if I could.  So, instead, I'm just going to post a lot of them, because I like them.  And, this is my blog, and I'll post if I want too.  So there.

We met Anna at the Irvine Park Railroad.  Very, very cool location.  I'd recommend just going to hang out and there are great spots for photography.  We were running a little behind with the girls' naps and so we had to rush to get out of the house.  I forgot my jewelry and Tim forgot his wedding band.  I promise that we are married and happy.  In case you were wondering.  Enjoy...

When we first got there, all Madison wanted to do was run around like a crazy girl.  Because she is a crazy girl.

There is nothing better than Dad's with their daughters.

They are pretending to like each other right here.

It was windy.

I love the background on this one.  Look at that gorgeous tree.

Look at this handsome man, he's looking at me you know...

And then he plays hard to get...

Love the red wall.

Have you ever seen a prettier little girl??  I know, I know, she's mine, I'm biased.

Look at Madi's little feet...

Thanks again Anna!  You rock!

Things I'm Looking Forward to...

I realize I have not posted anything in about a week.  I hate coming to my blog and seeing such an old post just hanging out collecting dust.  So, I figured I'd at least post something.  I haven't taken any pictures lately because I've been really busy (shocker).  So, this might be boring for you, but for me, it's very encouraging.

I have a lot to look forward to.

  1. I'm looking forward to having all my money saved for a new laptop.  Working, and playing on the same computer is putting a toll on my old dell.  First off, let me just say, that my experience with a dell computer, um, sucks.  I've had this old girl for about 6 years, 2 of which it laid lazy like in storage.  But, it sucks.  I am about $250.00 away from getting the laptop that I want.  It's an hp.  Would love a mac, but right now, I don't exactly have $1500.00 for a laptop.  Plus with kids, I could just see the dang thing hitting the floor, as careful as I may be.  Those kids are tricky.  They even pile pillows up as step stools.  Sneaky beasts.
  2. This brings me to my next one.  With a new computer to play on, I can get my new blog up and running.  I'm wanting to offer backgrounds.  Why?  Why would a person who works full time and does cakes and cookies on the side with two beasts, three including her hubby, want to throw another thing on her plate?  (have you gotten sick of me saying how much I do?  Because if you are, suck it up, it reminds me of how much I accomplish on a day to day basis, it does wonders for my self esteem, and when my kids get to the age where they say, I can't do it, I can show them this in our bound blog and say yes you can, suck it up you little wuss, your old Mom did it once...)  Anyway, with that said, the new blog is called Kristi Rush Designs, I'm leaving it open like that in case I decide I want to design anything else.  I can always switch over.  I've only done a total of like six backgrounds so far, but I'm loving it.  HTML codes, I heart you.  I realize I'm an amateur, but this stuff rocks, it's so much fun.
  3. Purchasing Photoshop.  I'm using a free program right now to actually put my backgrounds together that freezes up all the time.  Photoshop will be nice for background purposes and personal.  Can't wait.
  4. I'm looking forward to Riley finally realizing that when she goes potty, she can wipe herself right there on the toilet.  She does not have to take the end of the roll and pull it until there is a string of toilet paper coming out of the bathroom, down the hall, and into my bedroom/her bedroom/down the stairs, until she wipes herself.
  5. When Riley stops screaming from her bedroom because the stuffed animal that Tim bought her for V Day has it's elephant ears all wrong.  Why elephant ears flopping back instead of forward bothers a three year old so much beats me.  Which brings me to my next one...
  6. When the hubby finally realizes that I've packed away 3/4 of Riley's stuffed animals because we have too many.  Um, at this point, I'd rather him by them candy, lots of candy...
  7. When Stacy and Bella come to visit.  Some time after April 15th, for obvious reasons...
  8. I'm looking forward to noonish tomorrow.  That's when Anna said she'd be over to drop off our CD of our shoot with her.  That girl is awesome, I've seen so much that she has done that I finally said, "That's it, no more JC Penny."  I'll post some pictures hopefully tomorrow.
  9. Ending this post.  I've already used too many words and not enough pictures.  So I'll leave you with a collage that Anna emailed me, she took these at the Irvine Park Railroad, great place, we will be back to just hang out.

Pictures, Lots of Pictures

On Sunday, V day, I took my girls down to my old high school so that I could play photographer.  I've seen so many of you do these fun little sessions with your kids at a great location and thought I would try it myself.  I wanted a red background for Valentine's day and I wanted to do something different.  Corona High is red, and I haven't seen anyone do pictures at a school yet so I thought I had my location.  Of course, this place is huge and it's really hard to chase two kids around and try to get some good shots.  I took a total of 517 pictures.

I love most of them.

This is where the self control should kick in.

I don't have any so I'm going to be posting 336 of mine.  I just can't narrow it down.

Okay, I'm just kidding, I'm only going to post 182.

Just kidding again, see I'm trying to get you to think that the number of pictures I'm going to post isn't that bad so if I joke about these absurd numbers, you won't think that my 29 is that bad.

Yeah, I'm posting 29 pictures.

Sorry.

Now you can all tell me which ones I should have posted and the ones that I could have left out.  I need help if I'm ever going to recover.

I'm also very annoying, I barely did any editing, I didn't have my heart in the post, barely any collages, etc.  I also made all of them as big as I wanted, double annoying.  Please don't hate me for posting so many pictures.

Wow, I can't believe you are still here.  I promise the next time I take my girls out for a Mommy photo session I'll only post like 27.
