Weekend at the Folks'

Well, Tim's dad's surgery went really well.  Thank you for your prayers, everybody!  He is already back home as of either yesterday or the day before, I can't remember, and he is doing pretty good.  His recovery is going to be hard I think, but he is kind of a bad @$$ so, he's gonna do fine :)

It's nice to have Tim back home.  I missed him.  Surprised myself though, Thursday evening went fine, and I think I could have gone the whole weekend alone with the kids.  It's the alone with the kids at night thing that kinda freaks me out.  What if I don't hear them?  What if something happens to me?  You know, all of those scary things that probably won't happen but could happen?  But instead of being alone all weekend, the kids and I headed over to the Kelley Resort.

It was fun.  The girls loved it of course, and I enjoyed waking up in my Mom and Dad's house for the first time in a long time.  But there was no breakfast in bed.  Hmmm.

We did a little painting.  Sorry there are so many pictures, but I just love these so scroll on through if you don't want to see pictures of my adorable baby girls.

They take their painting seriously.  Just like Daddy.

And they do a pretty good job!  This here is Madi's.

Have you seen The Holiday?  Don't you think my Madi looks a little bit like the youngest daughter of Jude Law or Graham in the movie?  I think her name is Olivia.

Maybe it's only when I curl her bangs under.

They had fun sleeping in the guest bedroom.  Riley said, "Mommy, I want Madi to sleep with me in the big bed.  You can just find something fluffy to lay on on the floor."

Yeah, that didn't happen.  Madi ended up in the pack-n-play and Riley and I in the bed.  Except for night number 2, we were all 3 stuffed in that bed.  Cozy.  :)

The girls just love my Mom and Dad's yard.  But who wouldn't?  I love it.  Could stay out there all day.

My Mom likes to put the kids to work.  Safety scissors work great for trimming.

And Riley helped Pop Pop with the rose garden, or what will soon be a blooming rose garden.

We headed home Sunday early afternoon.  And waited for Tim to get home.

And that's about all I really have to report.

Except I want to remember one thing that Madi said tonight while I was brushing her hair, and she was brushing her teeth.  She said,

"Mommy, party my bangs in the middle, like this.  Just like a tent!!  Hehe!"

She cracks me up.

Riley's Princess Birthday Party (3rd Year in a Row)

I thought I would try to do a quick birthday post from Riley's 5th birthday party!  Thanks Mom for taking the pictures!  You are a life saver!

This was the first party that we invited actual friends for.  And it turned out fantastic.  We sent out 5 invites to some of her girl friends from school (because she's a girl, and that means she doesn't play with the boys - score one for Mommy and Daddy.  I mean, second week of preschool I think it was she pushed a little boy down the slide.  She don't take no crap from those little boys :)  Of course she did get her class picture last week from school and she pointed out some of the boys that she does like.  And which ones are CRAZY!!  lol, she cracks me up.

Back to the birthday...she ended up having 3 friends from preschool come (with their families/mommy or daddy) and she had 2 other friends outside of preschool come.  It was a nice small party and the kids had a blast!

We had set everything up at my Mom's house because our backyard is way too small to fit a jump house, and I didn't want to put it in the front yard for obvious reasons.  So her house it was!

And man what a windy day it was!  We were decorating outside the morning of up on her patio, and when we were almost done, the wind came through and swept everything away.

So an hour before the party, we rearranged everything and put the party in the outdoor kitchen.  What a difference it made on the wind!

And balloons were popping everywhere.  What can you do about that right?

As we were decorating, I was putting up the same stuff I have put up for Madi and Riley's birthdays the past 3 years and I was kicking myself in the butt for not keeping it all.  So I think I've purchased most of these decorations on 5 different occasions.

Right.

Riley requested pizza for her party.  Little Caesars to be exact.  Thank you Riley.  You saved Mommy and Daddy lots of money there!  I also made a ziti, and my Mom made a herd of other things for it.  Appetizers, salads, etc.

I ordered the jump house a week before the party.  And I got treated like an idiot.  But hello?  First time ordering a jump house here, didn't realize most companies only have 1 of each theme.  But I found a princess one.  Phew.  We almost had to cancel the party. wink.

This is Riley and her BFF Zoe.  They exchanged Christmas presents before school was out and they both got each other BFF presents.  Isn't that cute?  Riley got Zoe a necklace, you know the kind where one wears best and the other wears friends?  I know, enter awwww here.

Time to sing to the birthday girl!

Make a wish!

Time for presents, Riley let all of her friends help her unwrap her gifts.  That was fun.

The party was a success and very relaxing.  No games, just a jumper.  Which was nice because I got to know a few of the parents that I hadn't met yet, and they are awesome.  We've already had a few play dates, and all the girls get along so well.

I can't believe my oldest is 5.  Where or where did the time go?  She's like a little adult.  And she has the sweetest heart.  I'm heading to her future Elementary School tomorrow to pick up her registration packet for Kindergarten.  It's crazy.  I looked all that info up in November of last year, thinking it was so far away.  Now it's real.  It's really real!  My baby is going to be in Kindergarten soon.  And I think she is going to do great.  I love you Riley Rose Rush!  Mommy and Daddy are so proud of the girl you are becoming.  You have the sweetest heart and such a kind soul.  I couldn't be happier with how you are growing up!  Love you baby!

A Lot Has Happened Since I Wrote Your Ear off Last.

Well, not really, but we had an awesome Saturday last weekend.  I know, I know, this weekend is around the corner.  But, I'm bad at this blogging thing.  And I have never stated otherwise.

:)

Can I just tell you how awesome it is to have Tim home every Saturday and Sunday?  Well, I will.  You knew I would anyway.  I LOVE IT.

It's so perfect.  Last weekend we did a little boat "shopping"...we are thinking about buying a boat when we get the RV paid off.  I know, we could possibly be super crazy.  Or super on to something awesome.  See, we have planned a few vacations for this summer and everywhere we are going, we are like, "man...a boat would be awesome there."  Seriously, those were our exact words.

But we will see, and I wasn't talking about 2 weekends ago, I started this post off talking about last weekend.  I completely understand if you have already left and don't want to continue reading.  I swear I talk write in circles.

Sooooo...back to the topic at hand.  Last Saturday was family day.

We started off with pancakes.  And eggs.  And bacon.  And our friend (the dinosaur - Madi's words) Aunt Jemima.  And I don't know why Madi thinks she is a dinosaur.  But my kids make whatever they are eating into play things.  Drives me crazy.  We don't play with our food like Wednesday from the Adams Family.

I was going to take pictures of the pancakes cooking on the griddle.  Because I love pictures of food on my griddle.  But I didn't, because I had to act fast and get everyone's food ready like a crazy person.

So I give you this...

My empty plate.  You get the gist.  It was good.

After breakfast, we headed to a furniture store (I know what you are thinking, who starts off family day at the furniture store, well, I do.  Deal with it) where I found the same exact same sectional that we did at Jerome's.  For $700.00 less.  What?  Yeah, you heard me.  But, it's not down filled, pshhh...who cares?  I'm on a budget baby!  And it's comfortable as heck.  So there Jerome's.  That wasn't nice.  If only I had a delete button, I'd delete that sentence.

So, now, we are only about 400 bucks short.  It is my birthday coming up.  And I do think I deserve it.  I'll let you know what happens.

After the furniture store, we took the girls to the park.  They had such a good time.  Partly because their Daddy is the ultimate good time.  He is.

And I have a million pictures to prove it.  But I don't want you to think that this blog is all about him.  It's about these pretty ladies...

By the way, I know what you are thinking, from the lighting in the pictures.  What time did they start their family day?  It was late.

Because we enjoy our pj filled mornings.  It's what we do.  And if our pj filled mornings last until the afternoon, who cares?  Right?

:)

Just one of the hubs, being all that he can be...jumping off the swing.  I love him.

Good form right?

And, you can't see it, but he's going down this tube chasing after the girls.  You can tell by Madi's face!

A  moment of silence really quick.  I broke my new 50 mm 1.4 lens.  I know.  It's sad.  I really shouldn't be allowed to carry expensive equipment around.  Riley had a play date at the park after preschool a few weeks ago and I was running late.  Put my camera on top of the truck.  Strapped Madi in her seat and drove away.

With my camera on top of the car.  I know.  I'm stupid.  But the camera is okay.  Just my new lens is broken.  And I love that lens.  It's magical.  Or was magical.  I mean I could still use it, if I was awesome at manually focusing a jammed lens.  But I'm not.  And I am not going to take away from my sectional money to buy another one.  That extra money from the cakes is really being missed right now.  I'm not going to lie.

Enough sadness and back to the great Saturday that we had.  After the park...we headed to Little Caesar's.

Nothing beats a hot and ready.  I mean for 5 bucks.  You can't go wrong.  And (don't tell my brother because he swore I'd let the kids start eating up in the bonus room when we got the craft table and I assured him I wouldn't) we ate our pizzas up in the bonus room.  While watching TV.  It was fun.  So much fun!

The girls loved it.  And see those chairs that came with the table?  They won't be staying.  The only way to buy the table (Craigslist) was to buy the chairs too.  So, I offered 20 bucks total for all 4 chairs.  And I will paint them the same color (aqua) as the legs of the table.  Because I'm thinking in another house, it might be the perfect breakfast table...for an aqua and gray kitchen.  Hey, I can dream right?  Any who...my plan is to store them in the garage and get seating that fits underneath the table to save room.  Plus I don't want it to look like a kitchen table upstairs.  It's a craft table.

After dinner...we recreated Golden Spoon.  With our the girls' favorite toppings.

And watched Bedtime Stories.

In our pjs.  The movie was a little too old for some of us (Madi)...but it was still fun.  And I think we will be making this a Saturday tradition.

But not this Saturday, and this is when I ask for your prayers.

Tim left this morning via plane to Oregon to go see his family.  His Dad is having open heart surgery tomorrow morning and we thought it would be the best if he went up there.  It is a routine procedure, but it's still scary.  And it's open heart, not open chest surgery, which I found out tonight that there is a difference.

Please pray for him and the family.  And on a selfish note, for me.  This is the first time I will be sleeping alone in 6 years.  And it freaks me out.  But I might go spend the rest of the weekend with the kids at my Mom and Dad's.

Please pray for Dave.  We are anxious, nervous, and everything else in between.

Love to you all.  And thank you.
:)
